A downloadable game for Windows

Liminal Gallery is a small experimental project with unusual mechanics, with which you can turn pictures into reality. Explore the different rooms in the gallery looking for the door to the next level. The game is short and takes 15-25 minutes.

Developer note:

The idea of the game mechanics is taken from the game Viewfinder, if you have not played it, then I recommend checking it out. This project was originally created as an experiment, I wanted to repeat this unusual mechanic and naturally wanted to share it. Another important note is that the game may be unstable on some devices and bugs may occur, if this happened then sorry for that

Controls:

  • wasd - move
  • shift - run
  • lmb - interact/align
  • rmb - aim
  • r - restart level

I definitely like the concept of the game, but it could really benefit from something that indicated when you were 'upright'. I actually never got further than a certain point: Where you have to take multiple pictures of various gazebos before using a photo of a staircase to get to the door. By the time I get that last photo, I've already transposed three or four pictures, so the angle of movement's already screwed up. I tried six times and every time I put down that last photo, no matter what I tried I couldn't get it in a way where the door was 'upright'. And then repeating the level took so long comparatively to get to that point it really dragged me down.

Pls make for mobile too

fun game!!

could there be a Mac port ?

This was a really fun experiment, thanks for making it!
It's really trippy to have photographs just turn into other spaces, it never got boring or samey.
It reminds me somewhat of the Red Dwarf episode where they discover that they can go back in time through photos.

This was such a fun mechanic, i have had a lot of fun with this game couldn't wrap my head around it. Absolutely beautiful.

Fantastic game,  highly recommended!!!!

Is this game getting popular again? If so, here's my video.

nice fun game - i defo broke it on my first play though

on the level with the shallow water in the white corridors, if you place a picture 90-degrees right of where you pick it up, you can see something in the distance rotating, it's dark and shows up against the sky background

so i used the second image (in the rowboat) to angle the ground in a way i could reach it and fall onto it - it was the camera, which you are not supposed to have by that point i'm sure

after a few more levels everything kind of broke, but i started over and behaved myself and completed it properly :)

Excellent Game If Only It Was Longer.
I Made A Video Of It As-well.

Extremely reminiscent of Superliminal mixed with Viewfinder. Incredibly enjoyable.

Fantastic game, I played Viewfinder a few weeks ago and I think I preferred this to some degree because there was a lot more variety and cleverness of the gags. It also reminds me of Superliminal (which considering the title may also have been an inspiration). Great job.

Peak game! I made a video about this!

I found a way to get the camera early. This allows you to trap the banana.

that is a crazy game mechanic. Have no idea how you did this lol

If you want more of the same sort of experience, look for Viewfinder on Steam

Really fun Game!

This was super fun. Something funky happened in the last level where I kept walking diagonally

Yeah I just saw the same short and immediately came here, downloaded the game and completed it. It's really good. Very much reminds me of Superliminal which is high praise in my book. Very impressive. Would love to see this as a full length game and would happy contribute to a crowdfund for such an effort.

i love viewfinder and i love liminal spaces i just dont like games where a monster chaces you or jumpscares and a lot of liminal spaces games have those. does anybody know if this game has them as well or if it is just scary/strange looking rooms whit no real danger? the awnser will defenetly influnce if i will play this game myself or just watch a video

It has no monster, but it does feel like you're being watched

I was excited to try out this game because it seemed unique and interesting.

Though I was disappointed to find out that when I try to play it it acts like I'm constantly pressing W+A and it keeps moving forward/left diagonally. It makes the game unplayable unfortunately.

This may be caused by a connected controller

Hey! I’m the developer of this game. I noticed a recent increase in search engine traffic, and I’m interested to know where you found the game?

I just saw this YouTube video and came to download the game.

Saw this short https://youtube.com/shorts/Ix6ncWw5nQE?si=kqPVejPljD5wrY1o  and was really interested then saw the price tag and needed to play it.

Also here from a YouTube short, game looked interesting!

Same short as Dean

Also here after watching the same short. I've already played Viewfinder and I liked it. Thought I'd give this game a go, cuz of the same mechanics

How do you even code this? How does it work?

nice

Awesome game really liked it, super quirky.

What a trip. Very unique ! Very Cool ! Keep up the good work, and thank you for sharing !! :)

Awesome game i made my first youtube video on it!

Great game! I love the games with the altering reality through perspective idea. Not to much horror elements like a scary creature or jump scares, mainly just atmospheric horror.

  • Brilliant work! Such a cool concept, absolutely love it!
  • It took me definitely longer than it should to figure out the last moon puzzle lol

This was trippy and scary at the same time! I would love to see more! | 1st Game

This one was a great time.  Loved Viewfinder and I loved this game.  I'd be delighted with more if you ever had the urge to make more.

Been a couple of years since I was devouring mini games on Itch but I played Superliminal yesterday which reminded me of this game by you that I'd only seen in a video before.

The game was quite delightful for its short duration and I kinda feel like I should get Viewfinder now to get more of it. Sadly that one doesn't have this lovely horror vibe to it.

Sick game, was a lot of fun, would be amazing to have a native linux build for the next one. I think wine fucks with the controls a bit, but it's fine if that doesn't work.  Greetings from the Viewfinder Speedrun Server tho ✌️

Really great work on the atmosphere! The arachnophobia-triggering moment felt a little bit out of place for me.^^' But otherwise I enjoyed the aesthetic and how the mechanic is used! with it!

Another great game execution by Ken! I felt that I kinda cheated in some rooms, but if it works, it works :) Recommended!

Great work recreating the mechanic and giving it a new twist with the setting, it was fun to play.

This is so cool! Wished there were more levels!

I had a great (and sometimes frustrating) time wandering through Liminal Gallery. The atmosphere is eerie and unsettling in just the right ways — the kind of liminal horror that makes you feel like you’re not supposed to be there. The gallery design and tension are top notch, and I love how it plays with perception.
