Liminal Gallery
A downloadable game for Windows
Liminal Gallery is a small experimental project with unusual mechanics, with which you can turn pictures into reality. Explore the different rooms in the gallery looking for the door to the next level. The game is short and takes 10-15 minutes.
Developer note:
The idea of the game mechanics is taken from the game Viewfinder, if you have not played it, then I recommend checking it out. This project was originally created as an experiment, I wanted to repeat this unusual mechanic and naturally wanted to share it. Another important note is that the game may be unstable on some devices and bugs may occur, if this happened then sorry for that
Controls:
- wasd - move
- shift - run
- lmb - interact/align
- rmb - aim
- r - restart level

One of the best games I have seen taking the idea of ViewFinder game, would love to see a more horrific version of this with more jumpscares:

I was sad when it was over. I wanted to see so much more! The game mechanic was great, it was like a liminal horror version of Portal.

I sadly hit a bug toward the end where picking up the artwork in the gazebo makes a noise but the art is still left sitting on the table and me holding my camera :(
edit: False alarm! I found out this doesn't happen if you take one photo of the gazebo and jump in.
very fun game, found it while I was just scrolling through itch.io and it was a short but very fun experience! I was really engrossed by the textures done for the game, as someone who just learned how to texture models in blender x) at the start of the game in the first three rooms I just kept staring at them before moving onto the puzzle.
the puzzles themselves are really fun, it never felt too unfair. only complaint I have is I wish it was longer xD

Outstanding experience. Not quite scary per se, but a well thought and interesting puzzle. Performance-wise, runs nigh perfectly on my old laptop, so that is a big plus. Short, but captivating. Interesting game all around, with little to no jumpscares. If you're thinking abou playing it, i would say to go ahead. This game is worth your time.
